Trattoria Mlin is located next to the river that flows through the center of the village, and the exterior of the restaurant is reminiscent of an anchored ship. In its 40-year-old garden, so many stories have accumulated that a book could be written about it.

The restaurant was built on the foundations of a century-old watermill, and the name we carry today comes from the former mills on the river. Today, the restaurant is managed by Claudio Markovina, who has continued the hospitality tradition of his parents. Interestingly, in 1980, former Hajduk football players, Davor Grčić Gaga and Bernard Bajdo Vukas, solemnly opened Trattoria Mlin, which was the first private pizzeria in Dalmatia. The restaurant quickly gained a reputation, and its famous Italian pizza recipe made it renowned throughout Dalmatia. They soon added grill dishes, meat specialties, and Dalmatian delicacies such as homemade prosciutto, cheese, pašticada, soparnik, and homemade bread. Welcome to the Trattoria Mlin restaurant – an oasis of gastronomic magic on the western side of the historical Poljica Republic, next to the Žrnovnica River, at the site of an old river mill.

Not far from us, there is a local church with a famous relief of the god Perun, who once resided on the mountain of the same name, visible from the terrace of our restaurant. Perun is a mythological protector and ruler of this area, representing the typical rural landscape of Dalmatia. It is situated at the confluence of the Žrnovnica River, the Adriatic Sea, and the Mosor Mountain, known as the “golden mountain,” making it a unique position in the vicinity of Split.
